Roger flew over 1500 hours as a Crew Chief for a HUEY gunship which protected our troops when they landed, moved through areas, and were extracted from combat LZ's (landing zones). Crew Chief's are responsible for all the maintenance of the aircraft and are part of the crew when in flight. "HUEY" is the nickname given to this type of Bell helicopters and was adapted from the Army inventory terminology: "Helicopter, utility".
